PC or MAC

OK so I got a hot dilemma that has been consuming me and need some suggestions, opinions, and knowledge of experience. I've been on the hunt for a new laptop. I'm currently running a re-furbished (i think important context) Macbook Air 13" from 2018. It still is running just fine as I'm typing this article on it. But the more my wife and kids get involved in things the more they will need it for school/work. I'm already maxed out on it as far as users and space.

Which leads me to the article title. I've been a Mac user for 20+ years. I also have an iPhone and an older apple watch. Not sure if I would get another one of those so not a huge deal in my hunt. So it sort of makes sense to me to stay with Apple and it seems I can get a long life out of them in my experience. But I also feel the way technologies are today it worth looking into the PC platform and Windows OS and I feel you can get more bang for buck when it comes to the specs of the machine. As well as I can appreciate the ability to upgrade/customize things and taylor to your needs. But then again my needs are not much at all. Most of my doings on the computer are basically just this type of thing. I have no need for rendering, editing, recording, gaming etc. At most I'm running decently extensive excel spreadsheets. (NERD ALERT)

So my brain can not help but be practical and efficient. And with my experiences I feel I should just go with MAC but it's that more up front cost that gets me. As well as I also feel it's time to spread out a bit and not be so tied to one entity. It might take me longer to look at moving a phone because I do feel the iPhone security is pretty on point.

Again, any thoughts, suggestions and experiences would be greatly appreciated. Also maybe things I might be over looking. I would like to connect to hot spot of phone type of thing. Any issues with programs like OnePassword or come across any incompatibility that was just too hard to over come. Cheers!
